What is an Initial Disclosure Document?

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is the independent regulator of financial services in the United Kingdom. The FCA requires firms carrying out certain regulated activities to provide customers with clear information about who they are, how they operate, and how they are paid.

This Initial Disclosure Document is designed to help you understand our role, the services we provide, the types of finance we arrange, how we are remunerated, how we are regulated, and what to do if you have a complaint. It is important that you read this document carefully before deciding whether our services are right for you.

Who are we?

Merchantcashadvance.co.uk is a UK-based commercial finance broker specialising in Merchant Cash Advances and related business funding solutions.

We are a credit broker, not a lender. We do not provide finance directly to clients and do not enter into finance agreements with customers. Our role is to act as an intermediary between businesses seeking funding and a panel of third-party finance providers.

We work with UK businesses that accept card payments and are looking for flexible working capital solutions aligned with their trading performance.

Our regulatory status

We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under firm reference number 667915 for applicable regulated activities.

We are also members of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) and adhere to its Code of Practice and Minimum Standards. This reflects our commitment to professionalism, transparency, and treating customers fairly.

What services do we provide?

We provide brokerage and introduction services only. This means:

  • We gather information from you to understand your business and funding requirements
  • We identify suitable finance providers from our panel
  • We introduce you to one or more finance providers that may be able to offer funding
  • The finance provider will assess your application and contact you directly

We do not provide independent financial advice and do not make recommendations. You must decide for yourself whether a particular finance product is suitable for your business. If you are unsure, you may wish to seek advice from an accountant or independent financial adviser.

What products do we offer?

Our services focus on Merchant Cash Advances.

We introduce eligible UK businesses that accept card payments to third-party finance providers offering Merchant Cash Advance facilities.

Availability of funding depends on your business circumstances, trading history, and the criteria of individual finance providers.

Whose products do we offer?

We offer finance solutions from a carefully selected panel of finance providers. We do not provide a whole-of-market comparison and are not obliged to consider every finance provider in the market.

Our panel is regularly reviewed to ensure lenders meet our standards for reliability, transparency, and service.

How do we get paid?

We do not charge you a fee for using our services.

Instead, we receive a commission from the finance provider if a Merchant Cash Advance agreement is successfully completed following our introduction. The amount of commission varies depending on the finance provider and the commercial terms of the agreement.

Commission is typically calculated using one of the following models:

  • a fixed fee, or
  • a percentage of the amount funded.

In some cases, the level of commission may be influenced by the terms of the agreement. Where applicable, this may include situations where we have limited influence over pricing. The estimated amount of commission will be disclosed to you before you proceed.

If you have been introduced to us by a third-party broker or partner, they may charge their own fees separately. Any such fees will be disclosed to you by that third party.

Further information about our commission arrangements is available on written request.

Data protection and privacy

To provide our services, we will collect and process personal and business information. All data is handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

Full details about how we collect, use, and protect your information can be found in our Privacy Policy.

Your consent

By continuing to use our website or submitting an enquiry, you consent to us acting in accordance with this Initial Disclosure Document and our Terms of Business.

If you do not agree with any part of this document, you should notify us immediately and discontinue use of our services.

Customer responsibilities

You are responsible for ensuring that all information you provide to us and to finance providers is accurate, complete, and up to date. Failure to disclose relevant information may affect the outcome of your application or the terms offered by a lender.

Ability to repay

Finance providers will assess your ability to repay based on their own criteria. You should consider carefully whether the proposed repayments are affordable for your business and notify the lender of any changes that could affect your ability to meet your obligations.

Vulnerability and additional support

If you have any health issues or personal circumstances that could affect your ability to understand the finance agreement or make informed decisions, you may wish to take additional time, seek independent advice, or involve a trusted third party. Please let us know if you require extra support.

Missed payments

Missing payments or failing to meet the terms of a finance agreement may have serious financial consequences. Depending on the product, this could include additional charges, enforcement action, or loss of assets. You should ensure you fully understand the risks before proceeding.

Complaints procedure

We aim to provide a high standard of service at all times. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please contact us so we can address your concerns.

Full details of how to make a complaint can be found on our Complaints Procedure page.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

Your transaction may be covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) for regulated activities only. Merchant Cash Advances and other forms of unregulated commercial finance are not covered by the FSCS. FSCS protection does not apply to all types of business funding. Further information is available directly from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
